Our Coffee, Our Origin

Familia Coffee sources its  coffee from the western highlands of Kenya, from the hills of Kisii to the slopes of Mount Elgon, including the fertile regions of Kakamega, and Trans-Nzoia.

These areas share high elevation, rich volcanic soils, and steady rainfall, producing coffees known for the clarity, sweetness, and vibrant character.

From the Highlands of Western Kenya

Coffee in western Kenya is shaped by a diverse landscape from the highlands of Kisii to the volcanic slopes around Kitale and Mount Elgon. 

Grown at high altitudes in cool temperatures and rich soils, these coffees develop slowly, building bright fruit character, natural sweetness, and a clean, balanced finish.

Our coffees are sourced through relationships with farmers and producers across western highlands of Kenya who share a commitment to quality and sustainability. 

We work with producers connected to regions such as Kisii, Nandi, Homabay, Trans-Nzoia, and the slopes around Mount Elgon, where coffee is cultivated by smallholder farmers at high elevations in rich fertile soils.

By working closely with producers and smallholder farmers, we aim to support transparent sourcing and ensure that the people behind the coffee benefit from its value.

At Familia Coffee, our goal is to bring the character of Kenyan coffee to Norway while honoring the farmers and landscapes that make it possible. Every batch is roasted in small quantities to preserve natural fruit, sweetness, and complexity.
